Starting from January 2026, Ukraine is introducing an updated system of state support for families with children. It includes a one-time payment of 50,000 UAH at the birth of a child, as well as a monthly allowance of 7,000 UAH to support child care until the child reaches one year of age.
This decision responds to long-standing public requests to revise outdated child benefits that had effectively lost their social purpose.
Who Is Eligible
The benefit may be received by the mother or father of the child, as well as by legal guardians.
Payments are granted regardless of employment status, income level, or insurance record.
Important: The benefit also applies to children born in 2025, provided that the child is under one year old at the time of application.
What Payments Are Provided
The state guarantees:
-
50,000 UAH — a one-time payment after the birth of the child
-
7,000 UAH per month — child-care support until the child turns one
The funds are transferred to the applicant’s bank account after the benefit is approved.
How to Apply — Step by Step
-
Obtain the child’s birth certificate
This is the key document required for all further steps.
-
Submit an application for state assistance
You can apply through:
-
a CNAP (Administrative Service Center),
-
the social protection authorities, or
-
online via the “eMaliatko” integrated service or the Diia portal.
-
-
Provide the required documents, usually:
-
the applicant’s passport and tax ID number,
-
the child’s birth certificate,
-
bank account details.
-
-
Wait for the decision and payment of funds.
Until recently, the level of childbirth assistance did not reflect the real costs faced by families. A monthly payment of 860 UAH barely covered even basic needs. Today, the state has taken a step toward meaningful support for parents — and this right should be used.
