Carolina Nieto Gomez, Project Coordinator of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), met with Ukrainian experts in the field of justice and anti-corruption. One of the key participants in the conversation was Bohdan Khmelnytsky, a member of the Advisory Expert Council at the SLCC, founder and managing partner of Strategic Advocacy.

During the meeting, the parties discussed penitentiary reform, transparency of justice and the fight against corruption in law enforcement agencies. Bohdan Khmelnytsky emphasized the importance of effective cooperation with international organizations to improve Ukraine’s legal system and reform the penitentiary sector.

“The reform of the penitentiary system requires a comprehensive approach, including the involvement of international experience and expert support. Ukraine should strive to create an effective and transparent justice system that meets international standards. Cooperation with the UN in this context is an important step,” said Bohdan Khmelnytsky.

The meeting was also attended by Roman Bochkala, a military journalist, coordinator of the NGO Stop Corruption, co-founder of the Volunteer Battalion Charitable Foundation, chairman of the Advisory Expert Council at the State Criminal Investigation Service of Ukraine, and Ihor Bondarchuk, chairman of the board of the NGO Stop Corruption.

The parties emphasized the need for further cooperation between Ukraine and international partners in the fight against corruption, improvement of the penitentiary system and ensuring the rule of law.
